CSI issues the following statement on the White House announcement of a bilateral agreement between the United States and Mexico to modernize the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA)

"CSI commends the United States and Mexico for their efforts to achieve an agreement on a package of elements to modernize NAFTA. We will review the substance of the agreement as more information becomes available. As negotiations move forward, it is imperative that NAFTA remain a trilateral agreement and that a NAFTA 2.0 reinforces and does not undermine the ways in which the agreement benefits U.S. services trade and investment.  NAFTA has produced tremendous growth in U.S. services trade and investment, resulting in $88 billion in services exports and a services trade surplus of $31.5 billion, supporting nearly 600,000 American jobs."
